Gap Analysis of Roads and Settlementfrom OSM and HDX

HOT vs HDX (Settlements and Roads)

This report is a brief overview of the differences on datasets on Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX) Data Grids from WFP and OCHA, with those from Humanitarian OpenStreetMap (HOT). The idea is to highlight the main differences between them, so HOT can build a strategy to better its contribution to the humanitarian sector.

This work is part of an H2H grant where HOT is looking to improve its FAIR data principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) through closer collaboration with HDX and post processing.

For this project, we are also looking to create a link between HOT datasets and Anticipatory Action, by inserting HOT providing real time updates to our datasets based on forecasted hazards.

About this app

The app is loading data directly from HDX and HOT Export tool, and using Turfjs for spatial analysis. For building the app it is using Observable and for the maps Leaflet.
